Both of our grandfathers survived wars. Ernest May Both of our grandfathers survived wars. Ernest May, Bridget’s grandfather in the first photo, drove an ambulance during WWI. Kim’s grandfather, Major Glenn D. Stewart, flew in WWII and the Korean War, until a plane crash disabled and disfigured him for life. We’re remembering them today, as well as the many around the world that weren’t lucky enough to come home. I asked my brother Greg, an 82nd Airborne vet, which organizations are best to donate to that support veterans suffering from PTSD, and he recommends @operationmend @themissioncontinues and @k9sforwarriors. If you can’t donate, the #OperationMend Buddy Program allows you to connect with veterans and their families to provide an extra layer of social support and connection. Now I enjoy celebrating the other moms in my life, from my sister to my bonus daughter’s mom to my sisters-in-law to the many moms who helped raise me. And also: the mothers of movements, like Sojourner Truth, Lucretia Mott, Las Mariposas, Rosa Parks, Marsha P. Johnson, Gloria Steinem, Mary Brave Bird, Leymah Gbowee, Malala Yousafzai, and so many others. We met his daughter, Alex, and his wife, Teri, as the first buildout on Geary near Collins started taking shape.
